👥👥 Differences Between Registered Users and Participants
Understand the differences between a user and a participant.
This article clarifies one of the key points of Code Contract’s model: not all collaborators need an account to work with you.
👤 What is a registered user?
A registered user is anyone who creates an account on the platform with their email and password, or who has been invited to an organization.
Features:
- Has access to the platform and the organization created in Code Contract
- Can view, create, or manage content depending on their role
- Must log in to operate
Types of registered user:
- Owner → main responsible, 1 per organization
- Administrator → full access to settings and management
- Editor → can create and modify content
- Reader → view-only access
👤 What is a participant?
A participant is someone who collaborates in a specific process (signing, sending data, validation, etc.) without needing to register on the platform.
Features:
- Receives a link by email, WhatsApp, SMS, or Telegram
- Interacts with a specific task (sign, fill out, validate, etc.)
- Does not need to log in or have an account
- Can be a supplier, client, external collaborator, etc.
This allows external tasks to be automated without friction for third parties.
🧩 When to use one or the other?

✅ Advantages of the mixed model
✔️ Collaborate with third parties without friction
✔️ Centralize control without limiting external participation
✔️ Avoid the hassle of unnecessary registrations
