When you export data from Trackline to Excel, sometimes the records appear in a single, very long row. To analyze or work with them properly, you need to convert them into column format.
💡 Excel makes this easy with the Transpose function — but it’s important to follow the correct steps to avoid repeating or duplicating your data.
🪄 Steps to transform the exported row into columns (Transpose in Excel)
1. 📋 Select only the entire row you want to transform
Example: select from A1 to Z1 (or the range that contains your data).
2. 📄 Copy the selected row
Press Ctrl + C (or right-click → Copy).
3. 🧩 Click on a single empty cell where you want to place the data
⚠️ Very important: Do NOT select a range, just one empty cell (for example, A500 or in a new sheet).
4. 🖱️ Paste the data as transposed
Right-click → Paste Special
Check the box Transpose ✅
Click OK.
5. 📈 Check the result
Your data will now appear in columns, with each element from the original row displayed vertically in a new cell.
💡 Tip:
If you select a range before pasting, Excel will repeat the transposed data multiple times and create duplicates. That’s why you should select only one empty cell before using “Paste Special → Transpose.”
